Oct. 20th GEM meeting to focus on strategy

Do you have a charter school in your
public school building?

Will a charter take over your school’s
art, music, AIS, library or science rooms?

If the answer is Yes, you are not alone.

More and more charter schools are pushing into our public school buildings.

Help build a grassroots movement of educators to mobilize against this takeover of public school space.

A democratic society depends on excellent public schools. If public schools had adequate resources and funds to do the job, there’d be no need for charters.

Come to a Grassroots Education Movement meeting on preserving our public schools.

• Discuss and strategize how to fight back.

• Hear what educators and communities have done to organize.

• Find out what is happening around the city.

  1. I've been reading your blog and I'm angry. Why hasn't anyone told District 1 parents about what charter schools are really about. Is GEM coming tonight to CEC1 meeting. Where can we get copies of your Truth about Charter Schools brochure. All parents need to know the truth. I'm a district 1 parent and my school is one of the schools that is on the chopping block for girls prep. I also know PS188 parents who are angry because they were kind enough and welcoming to girls prep and now they've been betrayed by them. We need you to come and speak to District 1 parents.
    we need you to come to the CEC1 meeting tonight. This meeting must be videotaped because all girls prep is gonna do is lie, lie, lie. All parents in district 1 must know the truth about charter schools.

  2. Thank you, and we share the same sentiment. This was a little last minute, but we plan to send members to the NOV. 18 CEC meeting. As far as the “TRUTH ABOUT CHARTER SCHOOLS”. Look at the link to the right to download a free PDF version. You have to signup, but it's free.
